ABOUT
The Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts is the solemn lenten Vespers service with the administration of Holy Communion added to it. There is no consecration of the eucharistic gifts at this Liturgy. Holy Communion is given from the eucharistic gifts sanctified on the previous Sunday at the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, hence its name of “presanctified.”
The Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts is served on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout Great Lent, as well as on Great & Holy Monday, Great & Holy Tuesday, and Great & Holy Wednesday.
*Note: The Liturgy of Presanctified Gifts is a Communion service in the Orthodox Church. All are welcome to attend, though Communion is given only to those baptized Orthodox Christians who have prepared themselves through prayer, fasting, recent confession, and who are at peace with their neighbor. If you are interested in learning more about joining the Holy Orthodox Church, please speak with Fr. Joel after the service.
